Be Aware When Its Time To Bug Out

When it comes to bugging out, being aware is essential. The day or night you have planned & prepped for has finally arrived. The time has arrived for you to run, aka “bug out.” You’ve purchased all the equipment and resources you’ll need to survive wherever you go.

What’s left is something that can’t be purchased. It’s called “situational awareness.” When you’re bugging out, you have to keep alert 24/7. It’s crucial to your survival. You can’t afford to let your guard down – not even for a second – because you could get harmed or even lose your life if you do.

One of the risks you’ll have to deal with when bugging out is the possibility of being attacked by predators. You might come across animals that would love to eat you.

Animals such as bears, coyotes, and bobcats have been known to attack people at times for no apparent reason. Some people believe that animals only attack when hungry or to protect their young; however, this is not the case.

When surprised or scared, animals of all sizes will attack. They will attack if they have been injured or are unwell. Animals are also territorial; thus, they will attack. It would be best if you kept an eye out for them and two-legged predators – humans.

People continue to harm others in a world ruled by law and consequences. They steal, attack, and kill. Imagine what those individuals will do after society has crumbled.

They’re only going to get worse from here. That is why alertness is the key to surviving against both types of predators. You must ensure that you not only have a secure space once you arrive at your bug-out location but that you are also protected while traveling.

You accomplish this by scouting the area. Perform perimeter checks at your arrival site as well as while traveling. Check whether anyone is following you on foot or in a vehicle.

Pay attention to persons who are acting strangely or secretively.

Keep an eye on what’s happening with the weather. Knowing whether or not terrible weather is on the way allows you to seek cover before being engulfed in it and suffering from conditions such as hypothermia.

You should also be mindful of the weather so that you do not become entangled in flood waters if you are traveling near a creek or river. Keep an eye on what’s going on with your supplies as well.

Take note of the amount of water you have or the purifying methods you have on hand. Maintain vigilance over your food supply. When traveling with friends or family, keep an eye on their physical and mental well-being.

Someone unwell or in shock can reveal your position or bring attention to you, making you a target. Some preppers like to have a 5-hour energy bar in their bug-out bags so that they won’t become drowsy if they find themselves in a situation where staying alert is critical.
